cavaTAIO CRUZ // FACEBOOK [02 Jun 2013|07:53pm]

Born April 1, 1986 in Franklin Lakes, New Jersey, Michael Angelo Cavataio was the first and only son of Dante Aldo Cavataio with Patricia Beattie Silverman. Although Patricia and Dante didn't have more children together Michael has three younger sisters Nicole Julia & Annalisa, 22 year old twins and eight year old Gabrie.

Due to his parents never having been married upon Micheal's birth he was born Michael Angelo Silverman. However when Michael was one his name was changed to Cavataio; after full custody was granted to his father. Patricia, only having been sixteen (and having lied about her age at that) was in no position to mother a child. She had dreams of her future and having a baby didn't exactly factor into her life's plan. Once she had realized Dante, who was only eighteen at the time of his son's birth, actually wanted to raise Michael she gladly signed the proper papers to grant him sole custody so that she could pursue the future she had dreamed of.

Despite having given up custody of her son, Patricia remained in contact with him throughout his childhood. For every birthday and holiday that passed by Michael received a card. During the summers he would even go visit his mother, who then lived in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Patricia, a fashion designer, had married David, a marine sergeant who would later on end up whipping Michael into shape during his high school years.

Before he even reached high school, Michael had begun to rebel against his father's expectations and the strict rules of his household. From sneaking out of the house nearly every night to see friends to getting caught breaking into the neighbor's pool to swim; Dante had had enough of his son's blatant disrespect. Just before the start of ninth grade Michael was sent to live with his mother and step-father in Myrtle Beach.

To say that Micheal's family was unconventional would have been an understatement. His father had children with three different women and was now marrying yet another woman, who happened to be the sister of Uncle Cole's girlfriend. Although his mother's household was a little bit more conventional, being shipped back and forth between New Jersey and South Carolina wasn't exactly something that Michael enjoyed, or appreciated. He was angry toward most of his family members but did his best to hold back those feelings, causing him to internalize most, if not all of his feelings towards his family and friends alike.

Although he was in South Carolina to be disciplined by his Marine step-father, part of what was needed to be a part of a family team was to learn teamwork. One of the coaches of the high school football team where Michael was to attend school had gotten him onto the team. He wasn't the biggest member of the team, or the fastest but after realizing he could punt a field goal better than anyone else on the field Michael had earned his place on the team and had also somehow managed to earn himself a girlfriend on the rival school's cheerleader squad.

Had he not been on the football team most people would have considered Michael to be a little bit of a geek. The fact that he not only started high school with a girlfriend, but a cheerleader at that was something that Michael hadn't exactly thought possible with his reputation at his former school. Myrtle Beach was a new start though and obviously the little blond cheerleader, Kelsey Hamilton, had seen something in Michael that she liked and that kept her with him for the duration of high school.

Michael and Kelsey's relationship was like any high school relationship for two kids who went to different schools. They talked on the phone at night and hung out every weekend. There was just one thing that was lacking, at least in Micheal's opinion. Kelsey was waiting to have sex, waiting for what Michael didn't know and during the spring of his senior year he ended up sleeping with a girl from his school. Kelsey didn't know it was going on but where guilt had finally set in Michael ended up breaking things of with her just before her school's prom, using the excuse that they wouldn't be together in college so maybe it was better they started seeing other people before that.

College, for Michael wasn't exactly what he had told people it was going to be. Even on his graduation program it had said that he was going to attend UCLA. However, instead of actually attending the college he was supposed to go to and doing what was expected of him, Michael ended up moving into an apartment with a friend of his who had also gotten into UCLA. For two years Micheal's scam of having his father put money into his account for school and bills paid off. He lived off of his supposed tuition money and otherwise had a good time in California, that is until his father managed to realize what was going on. Once Micheal's cover was blown his cash flow was cut off and with no money to pay for rent he was forced to move back east to live with his father.

Having to go back and live with his father wasn't exactly something that Michael had wanted to do. His friends were mostly at college or still living in South Carolina and Michael had even lost touch with Kelsey completely while she was in school. The next two years in New Jersey were spent working since his father wasn't going to let him sit at home and do nothing all day. Michael got a job as a waiter at first and hated every second of it but it was money for him to spend and eventually he ended up being upgraded to a bartender, which he liked much better.

With restaurant experience under his belt now, and his uncle having moved to New Orleans to open a restaurant the next step in Micheal's life was rather obvious. He quit his job, packed his things and headed down to take up the position that his Uncle Cole had offered him. New Orleans was a lot different than New Jersey and being on his own benefited Michael more than even he had thought it would.

With a penchant for the 'wilder' type life-style (much like his Uncle Cole) living in New Orleans within such close proximity to bars and strip clubs Michael found himself not wanting to work but would rather live Mardi Gras everyday.

After six months of being in New Orleans and with his Uncle Cole and Felicia having a baby on the way, Cole decided to move to New York to make a better life for his family leaving Michael with two decisions; stay and continue work or move up to NY and work within the family business. (Not that family business but the vineyard). Michael wanted the opportunity to be closer to his family and not be alone in the Big Easy Michael decided to make the move North.

Still on his father's bad side and still needing to earn trust (and financial support) Michael packed his few belongings and headed back to Jersey with a few day stop in Myrtle Beach to visit his mom. It wasn't the warm homecoming that he expected at his dad's but they did have a talk and came to an agreement that Michael would go to work at the vineyard full time and the pay will be enough to keep Michael afloat with the terms of his rent being auto-deducted out of his pay.

Leaving not enough money for Michael to live by (or not enough to play with) Michael learned to hustle others with having two roommates who pay him $400 a month each. Michael never understood how everyone else in the family could mess up, crash cars, go to rehab 16 times and still have enough money for the finer things and then some.
